Planetary Collegium: 3rd Update
___________________________________________________________________________________
For my 4th Planetary Collegium Conference and Research Update in December 2012, we were invited by CIANT | International Centre for Art and New Technologies to present on the Mutamorphosis: A Tribute to Uncertainty conference in Prague in the Czech Republic.
For a change I did not present directly on my PhD research but rather chose to present on my other life, teaching arts and technology at the Digital Arts Division of the Wits School of Art. I co-authored a paper with Prof. Christo Doherty the head of my Division. The paper was titled Mutant Collaboration: Technology Arts Education in South Africa (more info – publication to still be announced) presented on the panel Mutual or Mutant: Where or When is my Education led by Nina Czegledy.
Research Update: December 2012
For the research update at this session I focused on presenting some finding and way forward after the first interviews made in Nairobi and Kampala. Please see the previous post on this blog for more here.
The updated presented not only thematic findings but a list of artists and creative practitioners working in Nairobi in the cross-over space between art / cultural practice and communications technology.
Two texts refered to most frequetly in this update, because of the Kenyan technology development scene where 1) Futures of Technology in Africa by Jasper Grosskurth and Innovative Africa: A new face of Africa by Afrinnovator writers Will Mutua and Mbwana Alliy.
