In the development of the Goodman Gallery Johannesburg’s growing interest in digital and new media art, Emma Laurence curator at the Goodman lead the Goodman Gallery’s first experimental and love streaming event between Stuttgart, Paris and Johannesburg.
Emma, who is now becoming a firm follower of technology and internet arts, invited me to join her as the “creative technologist” of the streamed event. Streaming events have been somewhat of an important tool for me, particularly at the University where it has been an important way for us to interface with artists and developers in other parts of the world.
In the Goodman Gallery’s event titled “from V to X via Paris” showcased live sound, video and performance works by artist’s Bogosi Sekhukhuni who was on an 89+ residency with Google’s Cultural Institute in Paris and Siyabonga Mthembu of the Brother Moves On, also on residency in Stuttgart. The piece used Google’s Hangout’s on Air as an interactive and live production from all three cities.
